Description:

Things is a beautifully focused and amazingly intuitive task manager. Other todo applications either oversimplify or are too difficult to use. Things instead offers the perfect balance between ease of use and powerful features.

Effortlessly manage to-dos, notes, due dates, and projects. A smart today list and the scheduling feature allow you to work as effectively as possible – every day. With Things’ elegant user interface, procrastinating never looked less attractive.

What thousands of users already love on the desktop is now available for your iPhone or iPod touch. You can even wirelessly sync with the desktop version of Things (no online account required).

I’m sure, as soon as I own a Mac, I’ll also use the desktop version. So far, it’s already very useful as a stand alone iPhone app for me, as carrying the task list with me makes it easier to track home related tasks, were I’m not at a computer all the time.

This app looks pretty cool. I’m going to have to check it out…

I never bothered trying out things. i was apart of the desktop beta version, It was great, but when it was released, it was $39 bucks. And the iPhone app is $10. So keep in mind it is a $50 commitment before you have a to do list. It just seems a little steep. Especially because http://www.rememberthemilk.com is free, and you can sync it with the $4.99 version of todo (Another iPhone App). So I think I’ll stick with that for now.

@jjmancini Was hesitating spending $50 for the complete things-thing as well (iPhone/MacBook). But just for the notes: ToDo only runs with RTM Pro which also comes at $25. RTM itself only provides a web-frontend, where you cannot edit/modify your todos offline.
I keep on looking for an alternative though…

That is true… but it is not super important for me to have offline access on my home computer. Because I’m always online and its not a laptop. But I do really appreciate the design and idea of things.

But how about this? Once Things is officially released, the mac version will go up another $10. So you have 2 months to purchase and save $10. They are sure asking a lot…

You have this listed under Free Apps, but it is not close to being free.

I admittedly don’t have a iPhone or Touch yet but I use the desktop all the time and have *ahem* already purchased the iPhone version for when the time comes.

    Great application.
    Thanks CC!

Ha! That is pretty stinkin’ funny. I think you should have put that money towards the iPhone first. Although I admire your commitment to Things.

My most used iPhone app. The sync-with-desktop functionality is awesome.

Love it. Over the air syncing is fantastic; great interface; rich functionality. Biggest plus: dev team is highly active, with regular updates coming every few weeks. Huge improvements from release, well worth more than ten bucks.

Great app, use it every day on the MacBook Pro and iPhone.

    Just bought it!
Things is the sexiest task manager I’ve ever seen.

And now, having said that, I feel like taking a time machine back in time and warning young zforrester that eventually he’ll grow into someone who accurately determines the sexyness of task managers.

    Pity me.

Great app. Lots of time spent thinking about how it should work. Syncing with the desktop version makes this a must have app for me. Has one of my 4 dock spaces along with PictureDialer.

I use Things everyday, good thing is that almost all functions are useful, making the experience fulfilling. My first and probably the last full featured GTD app.

GTD made simple. Way better than OmniFocus.

Superb App and Desktop program (make sure to check out the desktop version).

Agreed – better than OmniFocus : design, features, ease of use.

Sync in Things is fundamentally broken: the only option is to sync via WiFi which means you have to remember to sync each time you leave your desktop otherwise those changes are not saved to the phone. (This may be not a problem for those who mostly use just the iPhone app.)

(Not a big issue but I also find the “Today” category a mistake which is against the rules of GTD. A simple “Starred” label would be neutral and so much better.)

It looks better than OmniFocus indeed but until this sync issue is fixed I stick with OmniFocus which is more pricey but has a perfect sync functionality.

Now I haven’t purchased this yet so I can’t give my opinion this time, however I am trying to decide between this and FireTask. It is really important to me that apps on my iPod look good. A designer who pays attention to detail earns my respect. Firetask isn’t THAT much better looking than this but it is a noticeable difference. Any thoughts?
