SearchDial Screenshot

Description:

Search for and call, SMS or Email a contact with the fewest “clicks” possible:

After launching the application you are immediately in a search box with the keyboard active
Begin typing to search All Contacts by first name, last name, company name, phone number or email address
Each contact phone number matching the search is displayed on its own row – just select to connect immediately.
Each Name/Number combination is listed separately to avoid having a intermediate screen to choose the right number to call. Additionally, common types of numbers such as Mobile, Home and Work can have their own configurable colors for a visual way to quickly locate the proper number.

This application is also great for former Treo and Blackberry users who are used to turning on their phone, typing their contact’s name, and hitting a button to call.

As anyone with a big contact database knows, the built-in iphone search function simply does not work (that is, even if you CAN click on the little search thing at the top right, the wait is interminable). I tried every single search application out there, on both jailbroken and straight phones, and none of them work hardly any better. UNTIL searchdial came along. Now iphone contact search works exactly as it should–fast, and without leaving anyone out. After thoroughly researching this and every other iphone contact search application, I recommend this app without reservation.

How would you compare this to the Say Who App?

I hadn’t tried that, I didn’t try any voice recognitio apps, but I will–

say who is amazingly good. I didn’t know voice recognition could be so good. It is just a different application and can’t totally replace the need for a text-based phone lookup.

This app has replaced the standard Phone app on my iPhone. The T9 one hand search along with the fast results and the skip of punctuation at the search results make this app the best one for fast calling on a large phone database.

SearchDial has completely taken over from my iPhone’s inbuilt contact list dialer. It’s now probably the most useful app I have on my phone. Just open the app…tap in a couple of letters of your contact’s name…and hit the name on the list that appears and it dials. Brilliantly simple. It’s just as easy to use it to send SMSs and emails. It also remembers your frequently dialled contacts…so to call them it’s just two prods with your finger: one to open the app the second to hit the name!
It’s certainly the best 59 pence I’ve spent in a long long time.
